I never trusted the word of any guy so wholeheartedly,
did I believe them when they said those three words? Hardly!
I raised my heart up high so none of them could get it,
so sure was I that no one would,
I didn't notice that up to the plate you stood,
& wore my guard down with your charm & wit.
Drawing me in, like the ocean to the moon,
my heart pounding in a most irregular tune.
So very long I hoped and waited,
that the very word I longed to hear, I hated.
So that when you said that same line,
I realized how much I wanted you to be mine.
Before I knew it, we were going out,
touching lips & holding hands,
telling each other what we're all about,
hanging with friends & singing to favorite bands.
Now here we are together,
love so pure, it's beyond all measure.
The words now ring so true,
when we say 'I Love You.'
